James is always up to something interesting in the world of Yoga, whether its living with the traditional yogis in India, filming documentaries of the Khumba Mehla, or researching his soon-to-be-released, soon-to-be-a-classic modern reference book on The Roots of Yoga.
In this series of discussions James will draw on his expertise as a Sanskrit and traditional Hatha Yoga scholar to help us connect modern Yoga practice with its ancient roots. He will bring his deep knowledge of the Yoga tradition into into a very practical, understandable presentation that will give you a context for your own practice and inspire your continuing Yoga journey.
Jim received his doctorate from Oxford. He is a Sanskrit translator, lecturer and writer.

James Malinson is one of the present time research scholars, in the field of yoga, of international identity. And through his sustained work on vajroli, it is revealed that he is unbiased & very serious. He admits that scholarly work has its limits when it comes to spirituality; but I appreciate him, like him.
Hi Yogi Surajnath. Yes, I’m looking forward to hearing what he has to say!
