Understanding the anatomy of the body can greatly enhance your Yoga practice. In this series of 5 modules with Dr. Andrew McGonigle you will be introduced to the systems of the body that are being utilised and affected on the mat. Each module will be a comprehensive look at an area of the body. Andrew presents the material in a fun way, with practical exercises so that you gain an embodied understanding of the information. You will receive a workbook for each module.
In this course you will learn:
- the major muscles of movement and how they relate to yoga postures
- an introduction to the anatomy and physiology of the body
- the mechanics of movement
- how Yoga affects each system of the body
Module 1 – Intro to Muscles, Bones, Joints and Movement

About Andrew
After originally training to become a doctor, Andrew moved away from western medicine to pursue a career as a yoga teacher, via a three year stint in fashion working for Paul Smith! Based in London, Andrew regularly teaches Ashtanga yoga, but also works behind the scenes at Triyoga, Europe’s largest yoga studio. Andrew is a trained massage therapist and teaches anatomy and physiology on Yoga Teacher Training courses.
