Are you interested in Mysore style Ashtanga Self Practice but have not yet made it over the hurdle to come along? If the idea of self practice feels too daunting for you, this 2-hour introduction will prepare you for an easy entry into a yoga method that can transform your life.
For many people who are new to yoga or don’t know the ashtanga series by memory, self practice might seem scary. No need to worry, mysore self-practice is for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners. The only requirement is a willingness to learn.
Ashtanga Yoga consists of a series of postures strung together with the breath. Once you begin to learn the basics of this sequence you are ready to dive in and explore the practice at your own pace according to your own individual needs. Learning the Ashtanga series so that you are able to practice on your own allows you to progress in areas you might not be able to in regular guided classes. It also gives you a practice that you will have for the rest of your life. You can take it with you wherever you go.
In this workshop you will learn everything you need to know to get started. We will start with some background information about Ashtanga, the fundamental elements of the practice, the beginning sun salutation sequences and the first few standing postures. You will be given a sheet with the series printed on it so you can begin to internalize the sequences. Ryan will answer any questions or address any concerns you might have.
If you’re ready to take your yoga practice to the next level come along!
Hi Ryan, would love to attend but am on another workshop already at Triyoga Soho. Very much enjoyed my second mysore practise this morning at Triyoga Chelsea – thank you.
Just a note to say thank you ever so much for teaching the Mysore sequence, I will keep the practice and come back to make sure I am on the right track.
Gratefully,
Paola
Hi Tom,You should plbraboy come in and try a class. Our classes are physically demanding. We teach an accessible yoga practice, but it is difficult and you will get a work out. We do have beginners classes on the schedule as well as one gentle class. We would recommend trying the gentle or beginners to see if it’s a fit for you. Also, make sure you get your physicians approval as well before coming in. Feel free to call or email with more questions.
